It is more of a fact than an illusion that every human being desires happiness but many fail to ascertain and even measure the amount of joy that they enjoy at a particular time and also at times fail to trace where that happiness comes from. It is a worthy adventure to explore happiness as it is a virtue that adds value to life by making it even more meaningful and fulfilling. If given a choice, no single person would ever choose to be unhappy although, in reality, many people go through the life journey without attaining happiness which to a greater extent account for the worst failure in the most important goal of life.

Our ability to achieve happiness is, in reality, the accurate measurement of our success in life. It is for this reason that striving to attain the highest level of happiness can never be relegated to the backstage in this movie called life. Failing to be happy in life postulates failure to lead a fulfilled life and this is evidenced by the inability to exploit one’s full potential in life.

To maximise happiness, it is expedient to observe the law of control as propagated by Brian Tracy. The law proposes that,

“You feel happy to the degree to which you feel you are in control of your own life. You feel unhappy to the degree to which you feel you are not in control or controlled by other factors.”

The above assertion is in psychology referred to as ‘locus of control,’ and I put it to you that the reality of this feeling is responsible for our reaction to life. The answer to an individual’s happiness lies to a greater extent in his or her ability to control his or her own life and everything to do with the environment.

What happens in life is mostly determined by ourselves. When we are in control of our lives, we’ll be able to drive it to our desired destiny but once we lose power, life will definitely drive us to undesired destiny and will never be happy. Hold on to the reigns which are in your hands and be in control of your own life and see how happy you will be.
